Klinik für Kleintiere Sottrum on Vetnio: Less Typing, More Veterinary Medicine

Klinik für Kleintiere Sottrum is a referral clinic in northern Germany with around 70 staff and 17 vets, specialising in small animal medicine and ophthalmology. Clinic owner Dr. Marco Werhahn Beining was introduced to Vetnio through the VUK network - tested several AI documentation solutions and chose Vetnio.
In a piece published by JUST4VETS and German veterinary magazine HUNDERUNDEN, Andreas Moll sat down with Dr. Werhahn Beining to understand what Vetnio actually looks like in daily practice.
What Dr. Werhahn Beining found
"I genuinely love being a vet. That's exactly why I don't want to spend my evenings at a desk trying to piece together what I saw during the day. If a technology helps me stay a vet, it makes sense to me."
For Dr. Werhahn Beining, the value goes beyond the often-cited 30% time saving. In his words: it's about quality, safety and communication. About finishing a consultation with documentation that's complete, clean and ready - not reconstructed afterward.
Today, the entire clinical team at Sottrum uses Vetnio, each with individually configured templates tailored to their specialty. In ophthalmology, where Dr. Werhahn Beining specialises, vets and vet nurses now work as a tighter unit - the nurse who previously spent consultations taking notes can instead prepare the next diagnostic steps while Vetnio handles documentation in real time.
JUST4VETS is a German-language professional platform and magazine for veterinarians, covering clinical topics, practice management and veterinary technology.
